Last week in a succession announcement, Procter & Gamble named both its new CEO and COO (Jon Moeller and Shailesh Jejurikar respectively) but, in all the fanfare, one important detail was lost: Jejurikar is the first Indian National to take up such a key role at the US FMCG giant, according to a report published by the India Times.

THE DETAILS Jejurikar’s appointment is effective October 1, 2021 and his successor as CEO of the company’s Fabric & Home Care unit is yet to be announced.

Born in Mumbai, Jejirukar joined P&G in 1989 and his career at the US FMCG giant has spanned multiple businesses in both developed and developing regions. He also leads on Global Sustainability initiatives, ensuring the manufacturer of Olay’s sustainability initiatives are fully integrated into the day-to-day business.
