THE WHAT? Natura &Co, parent company of Aesop, Avon, Natura and The Body Shop, has given its first annual progress report on its Commitment to Life 2030 sustainability vision, which launched last year.  

THE DETAILS Talking via a livestream with world leading experts, Natura &Co discussed topics such as the climate crisis and protecting the Amazon, the defence of Human Rights and ensuring equality and inclusion throughout its network, and embracing circularity and regeneration by 2030.

The company showcased highlights from the first year of progress, including its preservation of the Amazon forest increasing from 1.8 to 2 million hectares, the gender balance of the management team reaching 49 percent, and $94m having been invested in causes, including donations to fighting COVID-19, supporting breast cancer awareness initiatives, and support for victims of domestic violence.

THE WHY? Natura &Co has a strong environmental focus, with the 2030 sustainability vision holding the company ‘accountable’ to balance profit and purpose.’ 

The company also highlighted key updates, which included the launch of a new monitor tool called PlenaMata. Launched in partnership with in partnership with MapBiomas and InfoAmazôni the portal will help generate data about the health of the Amazon by creating a centralised database to inform initiatives for the conservation and regeneration of the Amazon biome.

There is also a renewed call to build an agreement on nature with the same importance it has been given to climate and carbon, while Natura &Co will also set out a new plan to ensure its workforce reflects the demographic composition of the societies in which it operates.
