THE WHAT? UK luxury department store Harrods has opened its revamped Hair and Beauty Salon on the fifth floor of its Knightsbridge store, according to a report by WWD.com. 

THE DETAILS The Hair and Beauty Salon adds 16,985 square feet to the current 90,000 sq ft beauty halls, which marks the final phase of the beauty transformation in the retail space.

The salon will offer treatments such as Japanese-inspired ‘scalp facials,’ a hair extension ‘library’ and Philip Kingsley Elasticizer treatments.

Annalise Fard, Director of Beauty at Harrods, said that the space was built around customer needs, stating, “They want the best of the best for their skin, face, body and hair, and they have picked up on the global trend for hair treatments and wellness.”

Designed by London-based Sparcstudio, the look was based on a 1982 photograph of the store and has treatment spaces such as a Backwash Room, Conditioning Bar, Hairdressing Rotunda, and Eye Zone.

THE WHY? The salon revamp is the latest step in Harrods’ onslaught on the beauty market, with the luxe retailer also continuing to roll out its stand alone H Beauty stores across the UK. 

Fard said that Harrods was invested in, “in pushing the boundaries in what is expected from a beauty destination, as well as bringing the most innovative experiences and services from around the world to London.”
