Injectable aesthetics reviews. Johnson & Johnson recalls sunscreens found to contain benzene

THE WHAT? Johnson & Johnson has issued a voluntary recall for all lots of five Neutrogena and Aveeno aerosol sunscreen product lines to the consumer level after internal tests found low levels of benzene in some of the products.

THE DETAILS Consumers have been advised to stop using the affected products and follow a set of instructions published on the company and brand websites.

The sunscreen products impacted are Neutrogena Beach Defense, Cool Dry Sport, Invisible Daily defense and Ultra Sheer aerosol sunscreens, and Aveeno Protect + Refresh aerosol sunscreen.  

The company said it was investigating the cause of the issue.

THE WHY? Internal testing identified low levels of benzene in some samples of the products. Benzene is classified as a human carcinogen, however, the levels identified via testing, Johnson & Johnson says, would not be expected to cause adverse health consequences.
